This instrument was inspired by my passion for mallet sounds and glockenspiels.
I wanted to build a new instrument to add those kind of sounds to my music and
was reading about instrument maker Harry Partch and was fascinated by his microtonal
percussion instruments and wanted to build something of that kind.
The keys are made up from 1" steel bar that was cut and drilled at the 3rd ward
machine shop sometimes around 2006.
